I'thousand sharing a printable alphabet tracing book, a free sample from my collection of Alphabet Games & Activities. It'southward perfect for three types of children:
i- Young learners who struggle to remember their letters
two- English language learners who need to learn the alphabet quickly to grab upwards with their peers
3- Preschoolers who know their alphabet but need help with letter formation
I created the book for my three-year-old. She knows all of her uppercase letters and at to the lowest degree half of her lowercase letters past sight – but she's adult her ain fashion of writing letters.
I'grand thrilled that she loves to write letters on her own, even though we oasis't done any formal handwriting practice. The above motion picture is a computer she made out of a pizza box. Those letters in circles are the keys. 🙂
However, I'chiliad realizing that the more than she writes those letters her own way, the harder it's going to be to teach her correct letter formation.

The alphabet tracing book is my respond!
Information technology's a collection of cards with an upper-case letter letter, lowercase letter, and picture cue on each one. Each letter has a green dot to evidence the child where to brainstorm tracing.
Y'all'll also observe that each letter has arrows to show you how to correctly form the letter. When I sayyou, I mean the developed. I don't expect my toddler or fifty-fifty an older kid to know how to follow those arrows to write the letter. But y'all tin use them as a reference when showing your learner how to class the letter of the alphabet.
As you tin can see, I recommend that you concord the child's hand as south/he is learning to grade the letters correctly.
Y'all'll probably observe that your learners don't need guidance with some of the easier letters, like this one.
Hither's a good procedure to follow:
1 – Have the child trace each letter of the alphabet with a finger. Remind him/her to beginning at the light-green dot and get down (or around, depending on the letter). If necessary, hold the kid's hand for proper letter formation.
2 – Next, have the child point to each detail on the carte and name it. For this card, my daughter said, "K g, guitar."
If y'all're doing these with a preschooler, every bit I am, yous can expect that they will not have the stamina to go through the unabridged book. After letter of the alphabet H, my girl told me that she'd had enough.
Other instruction tips
- Brand certain y'all laminate the cards and put them on a ring for immovability and ease of use.
- If you're doing the cards in a classroom setting, have a tutor or aide piece of work with the learner to practise the unabridged stack at least once a day.
- If a learner knows fewer than ten messages, get-go small. Take him/her trace only the messages in his/her name and the letters due south/he knows for a calendar month before doing the entire stack.
- If your focus is letter recognition, have your learners use their finger andnon a dry erase marker. It's the tactile experience that helps learners think the letter names.
